Privacy Policy

My Last Words ("MLW", "we") exists to keep your voice safe and deliver it to the people you choose if something ever happens to you. Privacy isn't a feature of this product — it is the product. This page explains, in plain language, what we collect and why.
What we collect
- Account information: your email address, username, and a securely hashed password.
- Voice recordings: the messages you record and choose to save to your vault, stored encrypted on our servers.
- Transcripts: if you enable Auto-Transcribe, transcription happens on your device using Apple's speech recognition; the resulting text is stored with your recording.
- Your contacts: the names, emails, and phone numbers of the people you designate to receive your messages. We use these only for delivery and never contact them beforehand.
- Profile details you choose to provide: phone, address, date of birth, race/ethnicity, and height. These are optional and exist to help correctly identify you; you can leave any of them blank.
- Life Check activity: timestamps of your check-ins, so MLW knows you're okay.
What we do with it
- Store your recordings so they sync across your devices.
- Run Life Check: remind you to check in, warn you before any delivery, and — only after your full grace period passes without response — deliver your recordings to your chosen contacts by email and text message.
- Send account emails (confirmations, password resets) from info@mylastwordsapp.com.
What we never do
- We never sell your data. To anyone. Ever.
- We never listen to your recordings. Delivery is fully automated.
- We never use your recordings, transcripts, or personal details for advertising.
- We never contact your designated recipients before a delivery event.
Where your data lives
Your data is stored with Supabase (our database and encrypted file storage provider). Delivery emails and texts are sent through Brevo. Subscriptions are processed entirely by Apple — we never see your payment details. Each provider processes data only on our instructions.
Security
Recordings and app data are protected in transit (TLS) and at rest (hardware encryption on your device; encrypted storage on our servers). Server access is restricted per-account. On iPhone, you can additionally require Face ID to open the app.
Your control
- Delete any recording at any time — it's removed from our servers.
- Delete your entire account in the app (Profile → Delete Account & All Data) — this permanently erases your account, recordings, contacts, and settings from our servers. There is no recovery.
- Turn Life Check off at any time; no delivery will ever occur while it's off.
Legal requests
Like any online service, MLW may be required to respond to valid legal process — such as a subpoena, court order, or lawful government request. If compelled, we can only provide the information we actually hold: account and profile details, contact information, Life Check and delivery timestamps, and the stored recording files. We will not volunteer your data, and where permitted we will limit disclosure to what is legally required. We hold as little as we reasonably can.
Children
MLW is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, we'll note it here with a new date. Continued use after changes means acceptance.
